Bad Meetings = Bad Company Culture

Bad Meetings = Bad Company CultureBad Meetings = Bad Company CultureBad Meetings = Bad Company Culture

If your company runs bad meetings, The Meeting Ref is an easy fix.

There are three types of meetings: Push, Pull and Decision Making.  If you don't know which one you're in, you are probably in a complaint session.

The Meeting Ref stops a complaint session from happening by protecting the agenda.  (No agenda?  Welcome to a complaint session.) This is a very simple concept, but hard to manage when the egos get fired up.  However, after one or two reps, the team will know the rules and will play by them.

In one meeting, Ref'd by Joel, your team will know the rules.  From there, your Meeting Ref will know how to manage things.

About The Meeting Ref Program

One Meeting will Totally Reset Your Company Culture

  1. Sign your future Meeting Ref up for the program and gain access to the training videos.
  2. Schedule Joel to Ref a Company Culture Decision Making Meeting.  Your Meeting Ref will "scribe" the A3.
  3. You have made a HUGE improvement in your company culture.  Tell your story to new recruits and prospective clients.  And continue to include your Meeting Ref in future Decision Making Meetings.

Overview of The Meeting Ref Training Videos

Video #1: Meeting Basics

Get Intentional; Feed the Decision Making Meeting

  • Push - This meeting is used to share information.  Most of the time, a bulleted email will work.  If this isn't a training event, it should probably be eliminated.
  • Pull - This meeting is vital to learning what your team needs so they can be supported.  Use this meeting to generate a Decision Making Meeting.
  • Decision Making - This meeting is used to improve your business.  If it is done (reasonably) well, it will deliver amazing results to your organization.

Video #2: The Decision-Making Meeting

Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast

This meeting can greatly improve your organization, if you have the patience to let it work.  It's important to understand the steps and the process of Forming, Storming, Norming.

  • Discuss what has been tried in the past to "Drop the Ego"
  • Agree on the goal
  • Agree on "the main obstacle to the goal". This is the hardest and most important step!
  • Then - FINALLY! - Discuss solutions

Video #3: The Art of Running A Good Meeting

Focus on Buy In, Not the Solution

  • Be very careful about "command direction".  That leads to hurt feelings and disengagement.
  • Hear from everyone and you will have a foundation of trust.  This glues the team together.
  • Differentiate your company with new hires and prospective clients by explaining your company culture and the "so what" of it.
